Giant Panda

The giant panda is one of the rarest and most endangered species of animals in the world. There are probably no more than 1,100 giant pandas left in the wild. Sounds like a lot of giant pandas, but compared to with how many that used to be in the world, that isn’t very many. The giant panda lives in the highlands of Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Gansu providences in southwest china, at elevations between 5,000 and 10,000 feet. The damp climate supports dense stands of bamboo, the panda’s primary food source. The landscape is varied, composed of forest-floor broken by grass, grey rock, and snow. This inaccessible terrain also offers a defensive advantage for the panda.
